The Kansas Junior Classical League is the organization for Latin Clubs around the state. (Though officially, we like to call them "chapters.") The KJCL is part of the National Junior Classical League, which is 55,000 members strong. It's the largest academic student organization in the nation, and the second-largest student organization. (Beaten only by Boy and Girl Scouts.)
The purpose of JCL, according to the NJCL, is "to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of Classical antiquity.
Student dues are 75 cents to KJCL and $1 to NJCL. Each chapter must pay $5 to KJCL and $10 to NJCL, unless it has less than 5 members. Click here to download registration forms or conatct Susan Marquis.
