What is Convention?
Convention is an annual gathering for JCLers, SCLers, and teachers. Students can test their skills against others from around the country in academics, certamen, creative arts, graphic arts, and sports. Students can learn more about Latin and the ancient world at seminars or collect ideas for their home clubs at workshops. For entertainment, there are nightly dances, a "Romecoming" pageant, and a talent show. The cost is $280 (a great deal for 6 days in the Big Easy!)
Why should I come?
If you're a state officer, it's mandatory.
What better way to start the new millennium?
This year we don't have to bring our own sheets and towels!
Pick a delegate, any delegate. Then e-mail me with who you want to talk to. If someone who's been can't convince you, it's probably a lost cause.
I've been to Europe, and that wasn't as fun as Convention. What makes a trip is the people you meet, and you meet the most amazing ones at Convention.
For more info, read my summary of a past convention or the national webmaster's.
But I can't pay
If you're a state officer, KJCL has funds for you.
If you design a KJCL t-shirt for the state convention, you could win $20.
If you win the Academic Decathlon at the state convention, you could win $50.
The NJCL offers scholarships for needy Convention delegates.
